چکیده

Background Echocardiography is the preferred initial imaging method for assessment of cardiac masses. However, CMR, with its excellent tissue characterization and wide field of view, can provide unique information in the evaluation of cardiac masses. Our objective was to identify CMR and echocardiographic parameters that predict the presence of tumor or malignancy in biopsy proven cardiac masses and to assess the potential added value of CMR to echocardiography in the evaluation of cardiac masses.

Diagnostic Performance of Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Echocardiography in Evaluation of Cardiac and Paracardiac Masses.

Echocardiography is the preferred initial imaging method for assessment of cardiac masses. Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging, with its excellent tissue characterization and wide field of view, may provide additional unique information. We evaluated the predictive value of echocardiography and CMR imaging parameters to identify tumors and malignancy and to provide histopathologic diagnosi...

بررسی ارزش تشخیصی MRI در مقایسه با اکوکاردیوگرافی ترانس توراسیک در تعیین خصوصیات توده های قلبی

Background: Cardiac tumors are usually asymptomatic diseases. Considering the anatomic position of the heart, it is necessary to identify their nature before every aggressive intervention. The aim of this study was to compare the diagnostic performance of MRI and transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) assessment of cardiac masses. Methods: In a cross-sectional survey from April 2010 to March 2013...

Diagnostic utility of cardiac MRI in clinical evaluation of cardiac masses with histopathological correlation

Methods Over a 7 year period, 161 patients were referred for CMR for evaluation of a known or suspected cardiac mass. A retrospective chart review of these 161 patients revealed that 42 patients (26%) had subsequent biopsyproven diagnosis of a cardiac mass. CMR characteristics of biopsy proven cardiac masses, including contrast enhancement on first pass and delayed images, signal intensity on T...

Role of Transthoracic Echocardiography in the Evaluation of Patients with Retinal Vein Occlusion

Introduction: Retinal vein occlusion  is a common vascular disorder disrupting vision. Two basic types of RVO are branch retinal vein occlusion and central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO).  Retinal vein occlusion is a multifactor process including systemic illness and local retinal factors.RVO may be associated with atherosclerotic risk factors. We analyzed the role of 2 dimensional transthor...

CARDIOVASCULAR MEDICINE Evaluation of aortic stenosis by cardiovascular magnetic resonance imaging: comparison with established routine clinical techniques

Objective: To evaluate whether direct planimetry of aortic valve area (AVA) by cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) imaging is a reliable tool for determining the severity of aortic stenosis compared with transthoracic echocardiography (TTE), transoesophageal echocardiography (TOE), and cardiac catheterisation. Methods: 44 symptomatic patients with severe aortic stenosis were studied. By cardiac ca...
